Action to pay Margin Money Depot holders due from April 23 to June 23 should be started within a week: Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs
Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Lal Chand Kataruchak held a meeting with the representatives of Ration Depot Holders Association, Punjab regarding their demands.
During the meeting, he said that the Government of India has transferred the advance central assistance of Rs. 50.06 crore to the state treasury for reimbursement of due margin money and inter-state transportation of wheat to be distributed under the National Food Security Act in the state during the year 2023-24. 50 percent share (Rs. 50.06 crore) has been allocated to the department by the state government.
They have ordered the officials to start the process of paying the margin due to the money depot holders for the distribution cycle from April 23 to June 23 within a week.
He informed that due to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anan Yojana being a 100% central government sponsored scheme, the claims arising from this scheme are being sent to the Government of India and it is hoped that within a month this amount will also be paid to all the depots. will be released to the holders.
He said that the government is committed to protect the reasonable rights of the consumers as well as the depot holders and other legitimate demands of the depot holders will also be implemented soon.
On this occasion, President Surinder Singh Chhinda from Ration Depot Holders Association, Punjab, Senior Vice President Rampal Mahajan, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma Ladi, Manmohan Arora, Baldev Raj Pathankot, Kapila, District President Patiala Sudarshan Mittal, Baljit Mahajan, Kapil Sarma, Vinod Kumar, Guridar Singh Amritsar, Pawan Sujanpur, Vijay Kumar, Balveer Chand and other representatives were present.
