The ADR has prepared a report on the donations received by the national parties in the financial year 2023-24.
ADR i.e. Association for Democratic Reforms released a report on Monday. It states that in the financial year 2023-24, the national parties got the highest number of more than ₹ 20,000.
According to the report, BJP got Chanda Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), National People’s Party (NPEP) and CPI (M)) 6 times more than the total donations received.
In this report, the Election Commission data has been analyzed. It has been told that 6 national parties of the country were given information about a total of ₹ 2,544.28 crore of more than ₹ 20,000.
These national parties include BJP, Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), AAP, CPI (M) and NPEP.
Political parties the most corporate donations The report states that a total of 3755 donations were made by the corporate or business sector, which was ₹ 2,262.5 crore. It is 88.9% of the total donation.
BJP got the most corporate donation. According to the report, the BJP received ₹ 2,064.58 crore from the corporate sector through a total of 3,478 donations. Apart from this, 4,628 common people donated ₹ 169.12 crore to the party.
At the same time, Congress received ₹ 190.3 crore corporate donation and ₹ 90.89 crore from common people. The report said that in terms of corporate donation only, BJP got 9 times more amount than all other national parties.

The ADR has also given a list of 10 donors who donated the most.

- Derive Investments – BJP to ₹ 50 crore, ₹ 3.2 crore to Congress
- Acme Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd. – ₹ 51 Crore
- Rungta Sons Pvt. Ltd. – ₹ 50 crore
- Bharat Biotech – ₹ 50 crore
- ITC Infotech India Ltd. – ₹ 80 crore
- Dinesh Chandra R. Agarwal Infracon Pvt. Ltd. – BJP ₹ 30 crore
- Dilip Buildcon Ltd. – ₹ 29 crore
- Macrotech Developers Ltd. – ₹ 27 crore
Election Commission shared data of electoral bonds last year The Election Commission also released the data of electoral bonds on its website on March 14, 2024. The BJP was the highest donation party in this. From 12 April 2019 to 11 January 2024, the party got the highest 6060 crore rupees. The second number in the list was Trinamool Congress (1609 crore) and the Congress party (1421 crore) on the third.

Know what is the election bond scheme Election or Electoral Bond Scheme 2017 was introduced by the then Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. This is a kind of prominent note. It is also called bank note. Any Indian citizen or company can buy it, and political parties could give funds.
Election Bond Yojana was launched in the year 2018 to make political funding corruption-free. The government described the scheme as an important ‘electoral reform’ in moving towards the ‘cashless-digital economy’.
Why the election bond scheme came in controversies In 2017, while presenting it, Arun Jaitley claimed that this would bring transparency in the funding and election system to political parties. This will curb black money. At the same time, the protesters said that the identity of the Electoral Bond buyer is not revealed, which can lead to the use of black money in elections.
The petition filed ADR (Association for Democratic Reforms) claimed that this type of electoral funding would promote corruption. Some companies will fund them in unknown ways in those parties, which they benefit from the government.
