Actress Shilpa Shetty on Thursday told the Mumbai High Court that she is withdrawing her petition seeking permission to travel abroad. Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra are accused in a fraud case of Rs 60 crore.
Shilpa’s lawyer Niranjan Mundargi told the division bench of Chief Justice Shri Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhar that the actress is withdrawing her petition. He said, “In future, whenever Shilpa and her husband want to travel abroad, they will file a fresh petition for permission from the court. Shilpa is not insisting on the present petition at present.
In this case, complainant Deepak Kothari had accused the couple that between 2015 and 2023, the couple induced him (Kothari) to invest Rs 60 crore in their company Best Deal TV Private Limited but they used this amount for their personal benefits.
The couple had filed a petition in the high court last month, seeking suspension of the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them on the orders of the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the city police.
He had sought permission to go abroad for his professional work and holidays between October 2025 and January 2026. The court on Thursday accepted Shilpa’s plea to withdraw the application and scheduled the hearing of the couple’s LOC suspension plea for November 17.
During the last hearing, the court had clarified that as long as Shilpa and Raj Kundra are accused in the fraud and forgery case, they cannot be allowed to take holiday trips. The court had said that this petition would be considered only if they were ready to deposit Rs 60 crore.
