The Mumbai Police has initiated action against Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) MLA Sanjay Gaikwad for beating a canteen contractor at the Akashvani MLA residence. The process of registering a non-hygienic offense (NC) against Sanjay Gaikwad is going on. This action took place on social media two days after a video went viral, in which Sanjay Gaikwad was seen beating the canteen operator for stale food. Gaikwad claimed that food – especially dal – was of poor quality and his health deteriorated soon after eating.

Gaikwad, who was a two -time MLA from Buldhana, allegedly entered the canteen and clashed with the employees, angry with the poor quality of dal and rice. In the viral video, the Gaikwad is seen scolding the canteen operator, refusing to pay the bill and assaulting an employee sitting at the billing counter.
