Abnindranath Tagore’s house collapsed in Santiniketan, BJP shared the video and targeted Mamta government

The BJP has criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress for demolishing the residence of the 20th century painter Abnindranath Tagore in Santiniketan against the order of the municipal body. The BJP has described it as an attack on history, heritage and Hindu cultural identity. Abnindranath was the nephew of the great poet Rabindranath Tagore. Posting on X, the head of the BJP IT cell and co-integral of Bengal, Amit Malviya wrote that the house of Rabindranath’s nephew and a great figure in Indian art is being demolished in Santiniketan. Understand this. Vishwa Bharati’s second Acharya Abanindranath, who gave us iconic paintings of Bharat Mata and helped define the visual identity of our national spirit – is being converted into debris in the name of so -called development.

His son Alokhendranath Thakur bought the house in Santiniketan, where the great artists lived themselves. In his honor, the region also came to be known as ‘Abanapalli’. But today his legacy is being erased – he is being insulted and he is being destroyed. This is not just an attack on a building. It is an attack on history, heritage and Hindu cultural identity. The Bolpur Municipal Corporation had issued an order not to demolish the historic building, but the local administration still did the same. This house was built by Alokhendranath Tagore, son of Avanindranath, who stayed here for a few years. The Tagore family later sold this property.

Sold the property. The person who was sold this property tried to demolish it a few months ago. But the Bolpur administration banned it from dropping it. However, the house was dropped on Monday, ignoring the order of the Municipal Corporation. After receiving information about the sabotage, the Municipal Corporation tried to intervene, but by then the damage was done. Now, BJP has become an attacker accusing the Mamata Banerjee government of disrespecting history and the cultural heritage of the state.
