Addressing the media on Friday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that Congress has always considered SC, ST and BC people as its vote bank, misled them and used them for 70 years. In Punjab too, a few months before the assembly elections, the Congress made Charanjit Singh Channi the first SC Chief Minister of Punjab to woo the voters.
He said that if the Congress had really cared about the poor people of our state and country, they would have given them facilities, but the Congress never gave these people basic rights and facilities because they did not want to see them educated and developed. .
Harpal Cheema said that Channi had started all the schemes just a few days before the election code of Punjab Assembly Elections 2022, which shows his insensitivity towards these people. He said that during the Congress rule, his ministers embezzled Rs 64 crore worth of scholarship funds from Scheduled Castes but even after becoming the Chief Minister, Channi did not take any action against any corrupt minister or official. Due to the corruption of the Akali and Congress governments, the number of SC students applying for scholarships also decreased. But after the formation of an honest government in the state, this number has increased by 2-3 times because the students have confidence in the honorable government.
Cheema said that corrupt leaders have not only stolen money, they have robbed poor children of their fees, uniforms, books, their future and even their dreams. Slamming all the traditional parties, Cheema said that in Punjab Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP And the Congress established this corrupt system but the Mann government has a policy of zero tolerance against corruption.
He said that the AAP government is living up to the expectations of the people and fulfilling all its guarantees and promises. He mentioned as an example the 300 units of free electricity being provided every month without any discrimination.
The Finance Minister said that only Aam Aadmi Party is working to realize the dreams of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and improve the education sector and government schools so that children from poor families can become big officers by getting quality education. Regarding the check of Sri Guru Ravidas Study Center, Cheema said that Channi had issued this check a few days before the election campaign and he had no intention to build this study center, but on the other hand, the Hon’ble government, without any political greed, 25 A check of Rs. crore has been handed over to the head of Dera Ballan.
Harpal Singh Cheema questioned Channi that if he really cares about the poor people, why did he remain silent when 128 people died due to illicit liquor. Cheema said that corruption was rampant during the Akali and Congress rule in Punjab and none of the benefits of any scheme reached the common people.
