A big shock to the residents of Chandigarh! Electricity has become expensive since November 1, know how much the rate has increased

Electricity consumers of Chandigarh have received a big shock. The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has increased electricity tariffs by 0.94 percent. According to the order, this increase is 5 to 10 paise per unit. This decision will be effective from November 1.

For domestic consumers (LTDS-II), the tariff up to 100 units will now be ₹2.85 instead of ₹2.80, while for 101 to 200 units, the tariff will be ₹3.80 instead of ₹3.75.

Increments of 3.86%, 7.21%, 9.29%, and 11.10% have been approved for subsequent years. Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited had proposed a 7.57 percent hike in electricity tariffs. A company spokesperson said that this is their first tariff order after privatization and they fully understand their responsibility.

He said that CPDL, in collaboration with UT administration and JERC, is fully committed to improve system reliability, reduce technical losses and provide better services to consumers.
