Turki is being bocked in India due to supporting Pakistan. Not only the travel cancellation has increased, but all the items imported from Türkiye, including apples and marble, are being bocied.
On 16 May, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) announced the end of trade with Turkas and Azerbaijan. Business leaders from 24 states of the country participated in the meeting held in Delhi. CAIT said on Thursday that there is no question of doing business with the country which is against India.
When Indo-Pak tension increased after the Pahalgam attack on 22 April, the Turki-Arjarbaijan openly supported Pakistan and also sent drone-weeks to Pakistan and trend individuals running them for use against India. After this, Baycott Turkey and Baycott Azerbaijan have started across the country.
In this story, you will learn about the effect on the Economy of Turkas from boycott …

CAIT is a major business organization in India, which represents more than 9 million traders and small businesses across India. CAIT has the support of more than 40,000 trade associations in the country.
India-Turkiya Business: Turki is the biggest supplier of apple
There has been no major change in trade between the two countries in the last 5 years. Between April 2024 to February 2025, India sold goods worth $ 5.2 billion (₹ 44,500 crore) to the Turkas. In 2023-24, the figure was $ 6.65 billion (Rs 56,873 crore).
During this period, India bought goods worth $ 2.84 billion (about 24,320 crore) from the Turkas. India has always been a trade surplus in the bilateral trade of both countries. That is, we have sold more than buying goods from Turkas.
India mainly exports mineral fuels, auto parts, machinery, pharmaceuticals and cotton. However, imports from Turkas include gold, marble, apples, vegetables, cement and chemicals. Turkas India is one of the biggest suppliers of apple to India.

Bycott On the trunk Effect: Increased trade will affect economy
1. Impact on tourism
In 2024, around 3.30 lakh Indian tourists traveled to Turkas, which contributed about ₹ 3,000 crore to the Turkish economy. Travel booking has declined by 60% due to boycott and 250% in cancellation.
Platforms like Major Travel Booking Companies of the country- Easemytrip, Ixigo and McMitrip have also stopped campaigning for Turkas. This can affect the tourism sector of the Turkas.

2. Export Market Loss
India is a large market for Turkas marble and apples. With a boycott, the Turkas will have to find other markets for their product, which may not be able to take the same amount of products or give prices.
According to OEC, India imported apples worth about $ 92.8 million from the Turkas in 2023. The traders of Pune have decided to stop buying apples from the Turkas. Instead, they are buying apples from Himachal, Uttarakhand, Iran and other areas.
According to the storyboard, the Turkas currently supplies about 70% of India’s imported marble – about 14 to 18 million tonnes annually, priced between ₹ 2,500 to ₹ 3,000 crore.
According to media reports, the Udaipur Marble Processors Association, which represents 125 marble firms, has urged the government to immediately stop the import of marble from Turki.
If India’s exports continue and Türkiye’s export decreases, Türkiye’s trade deficit with India may increase. This direct effect can be seen on his economy.
Bycott will not have much effect on the Turk’s economy
Professor of Economics and Political Sciences at Insead Business School, Pushk Dutt said, “Only 0.64% of the export of Turkas goes to India, and 3% of its imports come from India. Similarly, only 0.5% of the Turkas come from India. Therefore, the boycott of trade and tourism will not have much effect on Turki’s economy.

Boycott of trade and tourism will not affect the Economy of Turki.
Bycott impact on India: Apple-Sangamarma can be expensive
India does 70% of its total marble imports with Turki, which is Rs 2,500-3,000 crore annually. At the same time, the import of apple is Rs 1,000-1,200 crore annually. Due to Baycott, these products can be expensive for Indian consumers and businesses.
Three big steps taken to boocat Turkis
- India’s online travel platforms such as Ezmatrip and Ixigo have issued advisory for not traveling to Turkas and Azerbaijan citing security risk and political tension.
- Jawaharlal Nehru University, India’s most prestigious university, suspended its MoU with Inonu University of Turki citing national security.
- Traders from Pune have decided to stop buying apples from Türkiye. Instead, they are buying apples from Himachal, Uttarakhand, Iran and other areas. The Udaipur Marble Processors Association has urged the government to immediately stop the import of marble from Türkiye.
