The Vigilance Bureau in Faridkot, Punjab has arrested the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of the RTA office on Friday, taking a bribe of Rs 3600.

Further action is being taken against the accused MVI Gurpreet Singh by registering a case under the Corruption Ban Act in Vigilance Bureau Ferozepur police station. The accused sought this bribe from two truck operators in lieu of passing their trucks.

In this case, the Vigilance Bureau said that he had a complaint with Jatinder Singh, a resident of Ferozepur Road in Faridkot, that he and a friend Veer Singh had to pass their respective trucks, for which they had applied online on the website of the Transport Department and for this they had received an appointment of May 9. Under this, he took his truck at the Sugar Mill Ground on Kotkapura Road on 9 May. Where Motor Vehicle Inspector Gurpreet Singh also took photos of both his trucks and took all the documents, but did not pass the trucks in his ID.

Complaint of conversation record

In this regard, Gurpreet Singh was interacted with phone, then he kept a demand of Rs 1800 per truck for passing and gave time to meet on Friday. The complainant recorded the conversation and complained to the Vigilance Bureau. Acting on the basis of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau arrested Motor Vehicle Inspector Gurpreet Singh in the presence of government witnesses and arrested 3600 for passing trucks from Jatinder Singh.

Vigilance-Inspector Sandeep Singh will inquire on remand

In this case, Vigilance Bureau Inspector Sandeep Singh said that a case has been registered against the accused and now he will be produced in Faridkot court on Saturday and will be taken on demand for questioning.
