Rajesh Dhanta, president of the Himalayan Apple Grover Society, wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, expressing concern over the increasing import of apple from Türkiye. He wrote that due to the apples being imported from Türkiye, there is a crisis on the livelihood of 13 lakh garden families of three Himalayan states.
He wrote that in 2015, 205 MT apple was being imported from Türkiye, which increased to 1 lakh 17 thousand 663 MT in 2023-24. To save the apple industry, it is necessary to stop Türkiye’s apple.
