Amitabh Bachchan became the star from Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan’s famous writer pair written by Zanjeer. In an interview given to Mid Day recently, Javed Akhtar was asked whether Amitabh Bachchan was really going to be the lead actor of Mr. India. On this, he said, Pramod Chakraborty was making a film about Amitabh Bachchan, which was probably not complete. Leading hero was Amitabh, who was shooting somewhere in Europe at that time. He had to do a film auspicious. So for some reason he recorded his voice and sent him, which went to the recorder Muhurta. This made me an idea that if his voice is so famous, then why can’t we make an invisible man with him. In such a situation, they do not even need to give us dates. In this way I got the idea (of Mr. India).
Further, Javed Akhtar said, then I felt to include children in it. Because children will be attracted to an invisible man. We did not work ahead of this, then we (Salim-Javed) separated. The atmosphere changed when we separated. Many people felt that I am very friendly with Amitabh Bachchan, I am close, so people felt that I was separated because of him. So I did not work with Amitabh Bachchan for the next 10 years. I had some offers, but I did not do those films, because I did not want the tag that I broke the relationship with Salim Saheb with the support of anyone.

The pair of Salim-Javed wanted Amitabh Bachchan to play the lead in the film Mr. India, but he refused. Salim-Javed was very angry with Amitabh’s refusal. Javed Akhtar decided that no longer will be worked with Amitabh Bachchan, although Salim Saheb was not agreeing to this decision.
A few days later, Javed Saheb reached the Holi party at Amitabh Bachchan’s house and told him that now his pair will never work with Amitabh. Salim Khan did not like her to say this and the pair’s working relationship deteriorated and the two never worked together again.
