In the last few years, the trend has been seen that films are not running in the theater. Even films of big stars are not earning well. If we talk about this year, Salman Khan’s Alexander also flopped. OTT is considered to be a major reason behind not running films.

Recently Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s film Costao was released. In this connection, Nawazuddin and the film’s producer Vinod Bhanushali interviewed Dainik Bhaskar. During this time, he also answered the question as to whether OTT will be replaced by the theater and why the audience is not reaching the theater, so let’s read what they gave.

Looking at the theme of the film, it seems that it is inspiring, where did the initiative to make a film on such a subject?

Vinod- Actually, when I told this story, at that time Nawaz had already joined this project, it was easy for me to decide. A magnificent story and a strong artist like Nawaz on it, it was 24 carat gold in itself. This biopic is of a person who really lived honesty, bravery and truth in his life. When such a real life story comes out, it seems that it is necessary to tell the world.

Do you think that the theater is ending or still there are possibilities?

Nawazuddin- Yes, the price is a big issue. The common man cannot buy such expensive tickets and the film is a thing to sit with people anyway, in which the presence of people is necessary. Now that public will come only when ticket prices are slightly low. If the prices are very high, then how will people come? This is the reason why OTT is taking advantage of this.

Vinod- No, it is not possible that theater is closed. People have the habit of watching theater. The problem is worth the tickets. It is necessary for the public for whom the film is made. In big cities like people in some areas of Bombay are high, then it is fine, but there should not be the same ticket prices everywhere. If it is worked on, the theater will run again.

Both of you have done many biopics, do you enjoy doing biographical stories?

Vinod- Actually, when you hear the story of a person who has really lived that life, then it seems that it happens? My life is not such that there is a biography. We are common people who are working up from below, but when a person looks like a film who has lived a life and still has been maintained on the values like truth, bravery and honesty, then his story must reach people.

Why was this film released on OTT instead of big screen?

Vinod- We decided to release it simultaneously in 130 countries, so that more and more people can see it. Hardly anyone knows more about Costao, except the Custom Department people and some people of Goa. Not much books were written on them, but our aim was to convey this story to the common man as much as possible. Such a large number of people may not reach the theater, but more people can easily see it on Zee5 and the story of this film is now reaching them.

What was the most special or fun moment on the set that you still remember today?

Vinod- When Nawaz lived with his family on the set, that atmosphere was different. There was a scene in which there was a fight scene between Nawaz and Priya Bapat. The script had only two lines, but both of them killed it. There came a time when both were going out of the script and performing. It seemed as if really quarreling. Everyone present there felt that it was not in the script.

Nawazuddin- That scene became so real because the emotions in it were coming from inside us. Thank God that the scene was not cut.
