DMK demonstrated against UGC in February
Earlier, DMK staged a protest against the new UGC rules at Jantar Mantar on 6 February. Many opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav attended the demonstration. The Congress had demanded immediate withdrawal of the UGC rules, calling it dictatorial and anti -constitution, and immediately withdrawn.
During this, Rahul had said that the BJP wants to run the RSS agenda across the country. They want to impose an idea, a history and a language. The purpose of RSS is to eliminate different cultures of the country. They want to attack their views by attacking the Constitution.
Rahul had said that every state has its own language, culture and history. India is formed by meeting them. Tamil people have their own history and tradition. Bringing such rules is an insult to every state including Tamil, where RSS wants to run its rule.

DMK staged a protest against the new UGC rules at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Many opposition leaders participated in it.

UGC draft came on 6 January On 6 January, UGC issued draft regulations for recruitment of Vice Chancellor, Teachers and Academic Staff in University-Colleges. According to this draft, the Chancellor will be given more powers in the appointment of Vice Chancellors in state universities.
This step is questioning the rights and federalism of the states. One reason for this is that Chancellors are often governors. The governor is representatives of the central government. For this reason, opposition parties are opposing this draft.
