The Tamal warship is part of the 2016 Indo-Russia Defense Agreement, under which four sword-class stealth frigates are being built.
India’s maritime strength is going to increase amid the possibilities of war between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack. The Indian Navy will be assigned to the Indian Navy in the end of May (28 May), a modern stealth warship in Russia.
According to media reports, it will be officially inducted into the Navy in June. This warship will be equipped with BrahMos missile. Which will not come in the grip of radar.
The Tamal warship is part of the 2016 Indo-Russia Defense Agreement, under which four sword-class stealth frigates are being built. Two of these are being built in Yantar Shipyard in Russia and two in Goa Shipyard in India.
Tamal is the second frigate to be built in Russia. Earlier, INS Tushil was commissioned in Russia by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in December 2024.
More than 200 Indian naval training has been taken
More than 200 Indian marines have been trained in Russia for the operation and technical system of this warship. He has also participated in Tamal’s marine trials. The same Indian party will bring Tamal from Russia to India in late May.
Two more warships are being built in Goa
Under this agreement, two other sword-class stealth frigates are being built in Goa Shipyard. The engines required for them have already been ordered. Due to this, India is also considered a big step towards self -sufficiency.
INS Tushil reached India in December
INS Tushil reached India in December after traveling 12,500 nautical miles from Russia. It passed through eight countries. It was commissioned on 9 December. Now ‘Tamal’ will replace her, which is equipped with more advanced techniques.
