Now recently Mumtaz spoke on his relationship with Yash Chopra. He said that Yash Chopra often used to come to his house and also propose him for marriage again and again.

In a conversation with journalist Vicky Lalwani, Mumtaz was asked whether it was true that Yash Chopra used to like him and follow him. In response to this, he said, ‘Not once, but he might have asked me a thousand times for marriage. But I did not love them, so how could I marry them? I am saying a thousand times, I am saying a little exaggerated. But he told me many times that A thick, I love you man, get married to me.

But see, a relationship with someone is formed only when you love that person. You like to be close to that person and for this you should have chemistry between the two. If there is no chemistry, then how can you live like a married couple? That chemistry was never between me and them.

Mumtaz said, I loved Yash Chopra as director and producer. But their relationship never moved beyond that realm. He was one of the best people as a human being. He always used to laugh at people on the set. When he died, I cried bitterly.

At that time I was in London. Shortly before he left, he called me and said that I must watch his new film. He told me that you will promise that you will watch this film. I said yes. But then he left. Very sad, because he was a very good person.

Mumtaz further said, ‘I don’t understand why he left so soon. I do not know what disease he had. I am sure that his family would have tried his best to save him, but he could not save him. At a party, his daughter -in -law Rani Mukherjee met me and started saying that Yash ji wanted you to come to the studio. When will you come? I will show you the whole studio. I really wanted to see the studio, because it was his last wish. But now I do not like to call and ask for a tour.

Died at the age of 80

In 2012, Yash Chopra had dengue, after which he was admitted to the hospital. But he died due to multiple organ failure. He was 80 years old.
