The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided several locations on the fake birth certificate scam in Malegaon, Maharashtra on Friday. Investigation revealed that 3,127 fake birth certificates were issued from August 2023 to December 2024. It is alleged that the scam includes the documents making fraudsters, brokers and some beneficiaries.
The ED came to know that people made certificates with fake documents like certificate, Aadhaar card, ration card for leaving school. In many applications, the forged seal and signature of government officials were also found. Some people also brought certificates of schools which are not in existence. This action was taken on the complaint of many Tehsildars.
