Wheat crop caught fire in Begowal area.

The wheat crop caught fire in Kapurthala, Punjab today. The incident took place in Begowal region. The fire started from Chohna village reached Balochkak village. This fire burnt 12 acres of wheat standing crop and 250 acres.

Sarabpreet Singh’s Arjun 605 brand tractor was also burnt while extinguishing the fire. Local farmer leader Narinder Singh Gullu said that the fire was so strong that it became difficult to control it.

Giving details of the loss, it said that the wheat crop sown on the contract land of Palwinder Singh, 2 acres of Sarabpreet Singh, 6 acres of Narinder Singh Gullu, 1 acre of Rajinder Singh and 1 acre of Karamjit Singh were burnt to ashes. The affected farmers have demanded the Punjab government to give appropriate compensation for the crop.
