The city of Kapurthala remained completely closed today in protest against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. More than 26 tourists died in this attack. There was silence in all the markets of the city. Only medical stores and emergency services remained operational.

Leaders of religious, social and political organizations of the city gathered in the morning Shri Mani Mahesh Temple. He strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the meeting and paid tribute to the dead. After this, all the organizations united and took out anger march. This march started from Sadar Bazar and reached Shri Sanatan Dharma Sabha via Jalokhana and Shalimar Bagh.
Outside the Dharma Sabha, protesters shouted slogans against terrorism and Pakistan. More than 50 policemen were deployed under the leadership of DSP Sukhpal Singh for security arrangements. Hindu leader Subhash Makarandi said that all the organizations of the country are united on this issue. After one o’clock in the afternoon, the markets started opening slowly.
Significantly, on Tuesday, terrorists wearing military uniforms in Pahalgam fired indiscriminately on tourists. The whole country is angry with this incident and is demanding strict action against the terrorists from the central government.
