Despite being the son of a big director like David Dhawan, Varun Dhawan made his place in the industry himself. The boy, who was once trained by train and auto, became a star overnight when Karan Johar’s film ‘Student of the Year’ was launched in 2012.
In the first six years, he touched Shah Rukh Khan’s record by giving 11 consecutive hit films, but after the 2019 ‘Kalank’, his graph slowed down. Interestingly, Varun has not been able to give any superhit film till date, yet his fan following remains.

Stayed in a small flat, used to travel by auto
Varun Dhawan is the son of famous director David Dhawan, but his childhood was not spent in a luxurious bungalow, but he lived in a small flat with his family. Varun had told in an interview, ‘When my father came to Mumbai from Kanpur, we lived in a small flat with a bedroom because Papa started his career as a director.
At that time there was not much salary for any projects. So we all lived in that small flat. Despite all this, I never felt poverty, because the way parents brought me up and my elder brother always kept me safe, I never realized that I am poor.
Varun wanted to become a wrestler, not an actor, Govinda-Salman is a favorite
Varun Dhawan saw the film atmosphere in his house. His father David Dhawan is a famous director of Hindi cinema and elder brother Rohit Dhawan also directs the film. In such a situation, Bollywood stars often visit Varun’s house.
But Varun’s mind, away from the film world, used to be in wrestling. He is a crazy WWE and dreamed of becoming a professional wrestler. But as time passed, the world of films pulled him towards him and then one day Varun started facing the camera instead of the ring.
Varun has been a tremendous fan of Govinda and Salman Khan since childhood. His father David Dhawan has made around 18 superhit films with Govinda in his career and about 8 superhit films with Salman. Varun used to serve alcohol during the day and at night
After completing his schooling from Scottish School in Mumbai, Varun Dhawan moved to England for further studies. There he studied business management from Nottingham Trent University. During this time he used to study during the day and serve part-time liquor in a nightclub in London at night.
Not only this, in college he distributed pamphlets to the pamphlet, so that he could bear his extra expenses.
Film journey started with Assistant Director
When Varun returned to India after completing his studies from England, he decided to make a career in the film industry. Despite being the son of such a big director, he did not take any help from his father. He himself learned the nuances of film making and proceeded on his own.
In 2010, Varun Dhawan started his career as an assistant director in the film ‘My Name Is Khan’ with filmmaker Karan Johar. In an interview, Varun had told that once someone asked for an autograph during the shooting and he gave it. Because of this he was thrown out of the set.

Father refused to launch, then debut with Karan’s film

Varun had also told that his mother had told him that if you keep sitting on your father, then nothing will be achieved, because he will not launch you. So get out yourself and audition.
After this, Varun first took admission in Barry John’s acting school. After about 10 months of training, Varun made a short film, which he showed to Karan Johar. Karan liked his work and cast Varun in his film ‘Student of the Year’. Please tell that Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra also made their debut with this film.
Varun used to burn Siddharth Malhotra
Varun and Siddharth had stepped into Bollywood together with the film ‘Student of the Year’, but Varun had many questions behind the camera. He started burning with Siddharth’s personality. Not only this, he also became quite inscribed.
In an interview, Varun himself revealed this. He had said that Siddharth was a long, look smart and there was a different confidence in it. There were only two heroes in the film and then I started getting scared in my mind. In the initial stages, 11 consecutive hit films, comparison to Rajesh Khanna
Varun Dhawan gave 11 consecutive hits in the first six years of his career from 2012 to 2018. Due to this achievement, he equaled Shah Rukh Khan’s record. Shah Rukh also gave 11 hit films between 2006 and 2015.
Not only this, there was a time when Varun was compared to Rajesh Khanna. It was said that perhaps Varun could also break the record of the legend actor. However, this could not happen. ‘Kalank’ became the first flop film, in search of superhit so far
Varun Dhawan has acted in 18 films so far in his 13 -year career. The film Kalank, released in 2019, proved to be the first flop film of his career. This was followed by ‘Street Dancer 3D’ and 2024 in 2020 films Baby John also flopped badly. During this, two Varun’s films, Coolie No.1 and Bawal were released on OTT, but both of them also could not live up to the expectations of the audience and flopped.

Varun Dhawan once told Aditya Chopra why he does not make an action film with Young Talent and can cast them in the film. In response, Aditya Chopra told Varun that he cannot make a big budget film on him right now, because he is not on that position yet.
Allegations of flirt from co-star, who with Nargis, viral
Varun Dhawan and Nargis Fakhri were seen together in the film ‘Main Tera Hero’. A video of this film went viral on social media, in which Varun was seen shooting an intimate scene with Nargis. In the video, the directors were constantly seen saying cut-cut-cuts, but despite this, Varun keeps kissing the actress. Initially, Arjun and Varun jokingly built the ‘We Hate Katrina Kaif’ club, because they felt that Katrina was not getting mixed with them. Marriage to Natasha Dalal after rejecting 4 times
In personal life, Varun married his childhood friend and long time girlfriend Natasha Dalal on 24 January 2021. Varun and Natasha were classmates since childhood. Varun had told in an interview that he felt love for Natasha for the first time playing basketball in class 12th.
He proposed Natasha 4 times, but every time his proposal was rejected. However, seeing Varun’s true love and efforts, Natasha agreed. The two got married in 2021. Both are going to be parents soon.
