The Kapurthala district administration has decided to provide financial assistance to the families of youths immersed in Beas river in village Perewal. Four youths were killed due to drowning in Beas river during Baisakhi festival. Two were evacuated on the spot, but could not survive
.
DC Amit Kumar Panchal said that cases have been sent to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for financial assistance of the three victims. He said that the administration stands with families in this difficult time. The bodies of three of the four youths who took bath in the river on Baisakhi have been found.

Identification of deceased youth
The deceased youths include Jaspal Singh (son Kalamjit Singh), Arshdeep Singh (son Manpreet Singh) and Vishal (son Manpreet Singh). The divers had found the bodies of Jaspal and Arshdeep on the very first day. Vishal’s body was also recovered on the fifth day.
The search for the fourth youth Gurpreet Singh (son Mahinderpal) is still going on. The people of the village are busy searching for him. Meanwhile, SDM Sultanpur Lodhi has expressed condolences to the afflicted families.
