A new case of corruption has come to light in the Phagwara Municipal Corporation of Kapurthala. The Vigilance Bureau arrested Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Raj Kumar and a private architect Rajesh Kumar taking bribe.

A local resident had filed a complaint with the Vigilance Bureau. According to the complainant, the architect had sought a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh to pass the map of his house. Later this amount was fixed at 50 thousand rupees.

Arrested for taking bribe of 50 thousand rupees

A Vigilance Bureau spokesman said that after preliminary investigation into the complaint, the team of Jalandhar Range took action. In the presence of two government witnesses, both the accused were caught red handed taking a bribe of 50 thousand rupees.

A case has been registered against both the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance police station of Jalandhar Range. The accused will be produced in court. The investigation of the case is going on.
