After the violence in West Bengal, there will be a hearing in the Supreme Court today to demand President’s rule. The petition has been filed by advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain.
They demand that an inquiry committee should be formed under the leadership of three retired judges to investigate the violence. Also, due to fear, reports should be called for how many Hindu families migrated.
Violence took place in several districts including Murshidabad in West Bengal after the implementation of Waqf Amendment Act. Media reports claimed that around 500 people migrated from Dhulian.
Petitioner’s case related to 2021, also added fresh violence The petitioner Vishnu Shankar Jain also reached before the bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice AG Christ on Monday. Jain then urged the bench to take a new petition for hearing on Tuesday.
Jain had said that his 2021 petition is listed on Tuesday for hearing. This petition was filed in view of the violence after the assembly elections. But now new incidents of violence have also come to light in West Bengal.
In such a situation, they have to be associated with fresh violence and present documents. So that President’s rule can be demanded in the state. On this, Justice BR Gavai said that you want us to issue an order to the President to implement it? Anyway, we are accused of encroaching in the executive.

High Court suggestion- Violence to violence affected area The Calcutta High Court reserved the order on 17 April for continuing the deployment of central forces in the violence affected Murshidabad district of West Bengal. The bench leader of Justice Samen Sen and Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary is hearing the petition of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari.
17 companies of central forces are deployed in sensitive areas of the district. Suvendu official has appealed that the state government should be instructed to take steps to return to their homes.
Earlier, the High Court had suggested that a panel with one member should visit the violence affected areas from the National Human Rights Commission, West Bengal State Human Rights Commission and State Legal Services Authority.
NCW’s team has taken stock of Murshidabad National Commission for Women (NCW) Vijaya Rahatkar on Sunday visited the riot -affected areas of Murshidabad district from the West Bengal government. The Commission is preparing a report, which will soon be submitted to the Center. Its copies will be sent to the top officials of the state.
AIMPLB announces 87 days performance

AIMPLB has launched a Waqf rescue operation against the new Waqf Act.
All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is running ‘Waqf Rescue Campaign’ against the new Waqf law. Its first phase has started from 11 April. This protest will last till 7 July i.e. 87 days. 1 crore signatures will be made in protest against the Waqf law, which will be sent to PM Modi. After this, the strategy of the next phase will be decided.
Hearing on Waqf law continues in Supreme Court
The Supreme Court was heard for 2 consecutive days in the last week. During this time, the court has given 7 days time to the central government to file a reply. After the government’s reply, the petitioners will have to respond in 5 days. The next hearing will be held on May 5 at 2 pm.
The Supreme Court said that only 5 petitions should be filed in place of more than 70 petitions filed against the law. They will be heard. The Supreme Court asked to maintain the status quo on the property declared Waqf till the Center’s reply comes. Till then the government will have to accept three instructions.
