Wheat fields caught fire in three villages of Begowal town in Kapurthala district of Punjab. The fire in Talwara, Khason and Model Town burned 200 acres of wheat and pulse to ashes. The fire was so strong that its flames were reaching the sky.

According to the information, the fire was controlled after two hours of hard work with the help of four fire brigade vehicles and tractors convened from Bhultha and Kartarpur. According to former sarpanch Satwinder Singh Naseeb, wheat was being harvested from Buta Singh’s Combine and Reaper. Meanwhile, a sudden fire broke out. In a few minutes everything was burnt to ashes.

Huge loss to many farmers
Many farmers have suffered heavy losses in this accident. Davinder Singh, the current sarpanch of village Talwara, burned five and a half acres of wheat and 15 acres. Former sarpanch Gurmej Singh’s 40 acres of pulse was destroyed. Buta Singh’s 10 acres of wheat and 6 acres of pulse, 11 acres of wheat of Gurcharan Singh and 15 acres of pulse, and 2 acres of wheat of Arjun Singh were burnt to ashes.
The aggrieved farmers say that they were already struggling with financial crisis. Now their troubles have increased due to the burning of the standing crop.
