Raj Shandilya, director of Dream Girl 2, spoke about casting of the film in an interview. He said that this film was not made as a sequel, but as the sequel to the franchise. If this sequel was there, I would have cast Nusrat. Actually, recently Nusrat expressed disappointment when he was not a part of Dream Girl 2.
In a conversation with the Times of India, director Raj Shandilya said, Dream Girl 2 was not a straight sequel, but was built as a sequel to the franchise. If it were a sequel, I would have cast Nusrat. But it was a franchise film, so I cast a new lead actress.
The film Dream Girl was released in the year 2019.
Raj Shandilya further stated that the story of Dream Girl was completed with the characters of Ayushmann and Nusrat. The second episode was created to show a new story, which required a new female lead. However, some important characters like Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh and Vijay Raj were retained in the film.
Raj also said that he had already talked to Nusrat about this decision and explained the same reason to him. In such a situation, there is no reason to be disappointed. According to Raj Shandilya, if the third episode of Dream Girl is made, then a new actress will be cast in it and Ananya Pandey will not be a part of that film.

Raj also described Nusrat as his good friend. He revealed that he is currently producing a new film and is also contacting Nusrat for the role in it. He also hoped that he would soon work again with Nusrat.
