The Calcutta High Court reserved the order on Thursday for continuing the deployment of central forces in West Bengal’s violence affected Murshidabad district. The High Court suggested that a panel with one member of the National Human Rights Commission, West Bengal State Human Rights Commission and the State Legal Services Authority should visit the violence affected areas.

The bench leader of Justice Samen Sen and Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary was hearing the plea of ​​the opposition Suvendu Adhikari. The lawyer appearing for the Center demanded to increase the deployment of CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) in Murshidabad in view of sensitivity.

Around 17 companies of central forces are currently deployed in the disturbed areas of Sati and Samseerganj-Dhulian in the district. In a petition, the state government appealed to take steps to return to their homes.

Presenting its argument in the court, the West Bengal government submitted a report and claimed that the law and order situation in Murshidabad is currently under control. The state also said that some affected families have already returned to their homes.

Here, the Bengal Police has arrested one of the mastermind killing the father and son during a violent protest in Jafarabad. Accused Injamul Haq was arrested from Suti in the district late on Wednesday night.

Additional Director General of Police (South Bengal) Supreme Sarkar said that Inzamul was not only involved in planning the murder, but also committed a crime of tampering with evidence by disrupting power supply in the area and destroying CCTV cameras.

The police arrested two brothers, Kalu Nawab and Dildar Nawab in connection with the murder this week. Kalu was arrested from a village in Sati near the Indo-Bangladesh border, while Dildar was picked up from Murarai in Birabhum near Jharkhand border.

The state police has also formed a SIT with 11 members under the leadership of DIG Syed Waqar Raza of Murshidabad. Which will investigate cases of this and other violence in the district.

So far 278 people have been arrested across the district in connection with the riots. No new incident of violence has been reported in the last four days. The normal situation is gradually returning to the affected areas. 85 families who ran away from homes are now back.

NCW formed a committee to investigate violence

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the recent violence in Murshidabad. The chairman of the Commission Vijaya Rahatkar herself will visit the violence-affected areas and meet the victims. NCW has also said that no violence against women will be tolerated and strict action will be recommended against the culprits.
