The Punjab government has now decided to recruit law officers. 124 law officers will be appointed by the government. These appointments will be made at the office of Punjab Advocate General in Chandigarh and the legal cell in New Delhi.

232 law officers were removed

According to information received from the Punjab government, the process of application for these appointments will run till 25 April. The conditions related to the application and all other formalities have been fixed. The government is trying to do no longer weaken in any case in the courts.

The government took a big decision exactly two months ago and removed 232 law officers. However, the then AG Gurminder Singh of the time said that all this is part of a fixed process, as these officers are appointed for one year and their appointment was ending in the month of February. The aim of the government is to organize and strengthen the functions of the office.

New AG appointed last month

The AG office of the Punjab government has also changed on a large scale in the recent past. On March 30, the government appointed Advocate Maninderjit Singh Bedi as the new Advocate General (AG) of the state. The decision was taken after the resignation of senior advocate Gurminder Singh Gary.

He resigned from the post citing personal reasons. Three Advocate Generals have been changed so far during the three -year tenure of the government. During this, Anmol Ratan Sidhu, Vinod Ghai and Gurminder Singh Gary have served in this post.
