Under the Maharashtra government’s Ladki Bahn Yojana, women are given Rs 1500 every month.
In Maharashtra, 8 lakh women taking advantage of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will now get only 500 rupees every month instead of 1500 under Ladli Bahna Yojana. The Maharashtra government has taken this decision to reduce the increasing burden on the state treasury.
Now the amount of Ladli sisters taking advantage of two government schemes will be cut by Rs 1000-1000. This decision will save the government 80 crore rupees every month. Earlier, about 11 lakh Ladli sisters were disqualified due to non -availability of the scheme criteria.
The Mahayuti government launched this scheme before the assembly elections. Then 2.5 crore women were getting an amount of Rs 1500 every month. The credit for coming to power again with the clear majority of the Mahayuti government in the election also went to the Ladli Bahna Yojana.
11 lakh beneficiaries decreased in 6 months
- 2.63 crore applications were received for the scheme by October 2024. Now after 6 months of investigation, the number of beneficiaries has decreased by 11 lakhs. 2.46 crore women received money in February and March. In the budget of 2025-26, the state government has reduced from Rs 46,000 crore to Rs 36,000 crore in the budget of 2025-26.
- The beneficiaries of Sanjay Gandhi baseless scheme are being disqualified from the scheme of women above 65 years of age, women with vehicles in the name of family members and women with annual income of more than Rs 2.5 lakh.
Strictness on the conditions applicable in the scheme Some conditions were imposed in the Ladli Bahna scheme from the beginning. Before the election, the government ignored these conditions and distributed money to most of the women applying. However, after the formation of the government again, the investigation of all applications started on the basis of these conditions and the names of ineligible beneficiaries were removed from the list.
Congress said- Government’s decision is a matter of concern
- Congress leader Vijay Vadettywar said- The government gave benefits to women for votes and took votes. It is condemnable to walk such tricks to close this scheme and reduce the pressure on the government treasury.
- Minister of State for Finance Ashish Jaiswal said- The conditions have not changed. The opposition is spreading misinformation. There has been no change in the government’s decision, no situation has changed. Those who will get illegal registrations will no longer get any benefit.
