Governor RN Ravi was the Chief Guest at the prize distribution event of an engineering college.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has raised controversy by asking students to raise the slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at a college event in Madurai. Ravi, who was present as the chief guest at a private engineering college in Madurai on Saturday, asked the students to Jayghosh at the end of his address.

He has been criticized by all parties after this video of Tamil Nadu Governor. It is being said that the Tamil Nadu State Equal School System Forum (SPCSS) has accused him of violating constitutional oath and demanded the immediate removal of him.

Congress MLA JMH Hasan Maulana from Velachary said that RN Ravi holds the constitutional post. Such works do not suit them. Ravi is speaking like a religious leader. He has become a master of campaigning for RSS and BJP.

SPCSS said- Governor is unaware of syllabus

The Tamil Nadu State Equal School System Manch also accused Governor Ravi of ignorance about the educational structure and cultural references of Tamil Nadu. Governor Ravi is illiterate about courses and syllabus adopted in schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu.   • Supreme Court reprimanded for stopping the bills – Governor Ravi delayed the approval of 10 Bills passed from the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, which made the Supreme Court move. Describing it as illegal and arbitrary, the Supreme Court said that the Governor does not have veto power and should take a decision on the bills passed from the assembly within a month.
  • Walkout from Assembly – In January 2023, Governor Ravi refused to read the state government’s speech in the inaugural session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and walked out of the House. The incident was described by Chief Minister MK Stalin as a violation of democratic traditions.
  • National Anthem Disputes and Walkout – On 6 January 2024, the Governor objected to not playing the national anthem at the beginning of the assembly session. He said that the national anthem should be played in both the beginning and end of the session. He did not complete the speech by rejecting parts of the government’s address on moral and factual basis and walked out of the House.
