Tulsi Gabbard, head of American National Intelligence, came to India on 17 March.
Questions have also been raised in the US about the electronic voting machine (EVM). Tulsi Gabbard, National Intelligence Director of America, said- EVMs can be easily manipulated in the election results. Therefore, there is a need to apply paper ballot across the US, so that voters can rely on the transparency of the election.
He said this in the presence of President Donald Trump. Gabbard’s statement became so fast on social media that a new debate on election security started in America. Many users supported Gabbard, while some described it as a political agenda.
A day earlier, Trump issued an executive order directing the Department of Justice to investigate the role of former cyber security chief Chris Krebs during the 2020 election. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Alan Musk questioned EVM last year. He had said- we should end EVMs.
At the same time, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala in India questioned the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the BJP government at the Center for not responding to Gabbard’s remarks. Also demanded the Supreme Court to take cognizance of the case.

Supreme Court has also approved EVM credibility
- 5 April 2002: The Supreme Court admitted the claims of the Election Commission of India that EVMs are not likely to be rigging.
- 8 October 2013 : Ordered VVPAT to be compulsory with EVMs. So that the vote is true.
- 2023 : There is no evidence of hacking in EVMs so far.
- 2025 : Demand for 100% VVPAT count is rejected from court.
ECI said- Our EVM is different from other countries, confirms from 5 crore VVPAT so far After questioning Tulsi Gabbard’s American EVM, the Election Commission of India has claimed that more than 5 crore VVPATs have been confirmed in voting so far, which was found to be correct in matching EVM votes. The Commission gave these differences between Indian EVMs and EVMs of other countries …
- Operating System: Our EVM does not have an operating system. The American machine runs on Windows or Linux.
- Connectivity: India’s EVM is absolutely offline. Not Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. American machines are connected to the Internet.
- Programming: It cannot be changed after programming once in our EVMs. Changes in American machine are possible.
- VVPAT: After pressing the button in our EVM, the slip print for confirmation. This does not happen in the American machine.
Surjewala said- Why ECI and Central Government are silent
Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala wrote on X- US National Intelligence Director Gabbard publicly raised the issue of EVM hacking. EVMs are unsafe to manipulate the voting result. Why is the Chief Election Commissioner and the official handle of the Election Commission silent on the matter.
He further wrote- Why is the Prime Minister, NDA government and BJP silent. Should the Election Commission and the Modi government not contact the US government and Gabbard to collect all the details about the Hacking and other weaknesses of EVMs and to check our EVM based on EVM flaws?
He wrote that Gabbard was honored in India on 17 March. Is it true that we dismiss their statement. Which we honored. The Supreme Court should take cognizance of itself in this case.
