Arms smuggling module linked to PAK busted, 2 with modern pistols seized

Acting on a tip-off, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a major arms smuggling module linked to Pakistan. In this operation, the police arrested two accused and recovered seven modern pistols, including three PX5 pistols and four .30 bore pistols.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the arrested accused Jugraj Singh and Balwinder Singh were working under the direction of a handler based in Pakistan for a long time. They were sent messages through WhatsApp to arrange delivery of arms and pickup points. The entire operation was part of a larger network.

A case of murder has already been registered against Jugraj Singh. This handler used to send him the pickup point for the drone delivery via WhatsApp. Drones would drop weapons across the border in the dark of night and the accused would pick them up and bring them to the module. Investigation revealed that this module has been active for a long time and was working to maintain a continuous supply chain of arms in Punjab.

The arrested accused received every step order from their handlers through encrypted chat. Police suspect that this network was preparing for a major incident in Punjab. The commissioner said that interrogation of the two arrested activists has yielded several important clues and more arrests are expected in the coming days. He further said that the Punjab Police is taking continuous action to completely eliminate cross-border drone smuggling.
