There is strong speculation in BJP that the new president of the party may be announced soon. After NDA’s victory in Bihar, speculations are rife that current BJP president J.P., a cabinet minister who plays an important role in the state. Can replace Nadda. However, names of some Union ministers are also in discussion for this post. Sources revealed that the issue was discussed among top RSS leaders at the three-day All India Executive Board meeting held in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh recently.

According to sources, a senior RSS leader, who is credited for BJP’s good performance in the last Maharashtra Assembly elections, may also get additional responsibility in the party. Nadda was appointed the working president of BJP and then the national president in 2019. His tenure was extended till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Organizational elections have been completed in 29 states and elections are still going on only in major states like Uttar Pradesh, so the process of electing the new national president has reached the decisive stage. The new party president is expected to be selected by January 2026.
A senior party source indicated that after January 14, when Kharmas, considered inauspicious in the Hindu calendar, ends and the auspicious phase begins, the process will gain momentum. A top BJP functionary said, “All preparations and processes are progressing with the organizational elections in the states as well as across all regions, and the election of the new national president is expected to be held by January 2026.” He further said that the electoral colleges for the elections are being finalized. Organizational elections have been completed in 29 state units, while formalities are still underway in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.

Meanwhile, in saffron circles, current national president J. Three names are in discussion as the successor to P. Nadda, who is currently on extension. “Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, and Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupendra Yadav and Shivraj Singh Chouhan are among the prominent names being discussed,” a senior official said on Friday. Of these, Maurya, considered close to both the RSS and Amit Shah, and Pradhan, who was election in-charge during the Bihar election campaign, have emerged as the most prominent contenders.
