Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has appealed to both the ruling party and the opposition to ensure smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the winter session of Parliament starting from Monday so that meaningful discussions can be held on urgent and public interest issues like air pollution in Delhi and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Mayawati said, “The winter session of Parliament is starting from today, which like every session, this time too is expected to be very noisy, but our party wants that the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament should be conducted in a smooth and peaceful manner and meaningful issues should be discussed.”
He also stressed on the challenges faced by booth-level officers (BLOs), pointing out the practical difficulties and objections being faced during the ongoing SIR process as well as incidents of alleged suicide due to work pressure.
He said, “The proceedings of the Parliament should be conducted in a smooth and peaceful manner so that the urgent and important issues of the country and public interest, especially the huge problems being caused due to air pollution in the national capital Delhi and its surrounding areas and the practical problems and objections arising out of the in-depth revision of the voter list i.e. SIR, as well as incidents like suicide of booth level officials, can be properly discussed and meaningful efforts can be made towards finding appropriate solutions to them.”
The BSP supremo said that merely making allegations and counter-allegations will not work, but for the sake of the country and public interest, Parliament will have to be run smoothly. He urged both the government and the opposition to rise above political interests and work with full sensitivity and seriousness. Mayawati expressed hope that the winter session will pave the way for good efforts to resolve these urgent concerns.
