Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has called a cabinet meeting today. The meeting was held at 11.30 am at the CM residence. In the cabinet meeting led by CM Mann, many important decisions have been taken, out of which 300 private doctors will be kept by the government on its panel, incentives will be given to these doctors per patient. Government doctors will also provide services after finishing duty.
Apart from this, the government will tighten the reins on illegal mining. It will be necessary to install GPS system in all the vehicles now, the mining department will keep a close eye on which vehicle has gone from where and where it has reached. A new industry policy is being prepared by the government. The report of the committees constituted on the policy can also be given the green flag. This policy is to be released in January. Similarly, the Punjab Protection of Tree Bill 2025 can also be brought in the meeting. The Forest Department had sent this proposal for approval and now it has to be placed in the cabinet for approval.
Arbitrariness of societies will also be curbed. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that the Societies Registration Act was enacted in 1860. Under this, people registered their societies or trusts and then leased or sold them. It was misused. There will be regular audit and examination of their working system.

Now the purchase of up to 5 lakh rupees in the departments will be possible without tender, so far this limit was 2.5 lakh rupees, the purchase of essential items used to take a lot of time. The government is considering a special benefit for doctors and teachers who provide services at the border. A proposal in this regard will be brought in the next cabinet meeting.
