Ludhiana rural police arrested the man who robbed the couple going to the market, recovered the iPhone

The Mullanpur Dakha police of Ludhiana rural have arrested a person in the case of snatching the purse from a couple riding a scooter in the market. Police have recovered an iPhone from the accused. The arrested accused has been identified as Harvinder Singh, a resident of Mullanpur village.

Complainant Surendra Singh, a resident of College Road, Mullanpur, said that on November 21, 2025, he and his wife Jasveer Kaur were going to the market on a scooter. A young man on a speeding motorcycle snatched the purse from his wife and fled from the spot.

The stolen purse contained house keys, an iPhone XR and Rs 500 in cash. Based on the complaint, a case under Section 304 (BNIS) was registered at Dakha Police Station on November 24, 2025.

The arrested accused Harwinder Singh has a previous criminal record. He has previously been booked under several sections of theft, dacoity and other charges. According to police records, several cases were registered against him in 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2025.

On the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana (Rural) Ankur Gupta and Superintendent of Police (D), Harkamal Kaur, SI Hamraj Singh’s team sped into action. Based on the information, the accused was arrested from Mullapur village and the stolen iPhone XR was recovered from him. The police are conducting a thorough investigation.

DSP Varinder Singh Khosa said that patrolling and blockade has been increased in the area. He made it clear that no one found guilty of the crimes would be spared and strict action would be taken against them.
