Government buses jammed again today, raw employees went on strike, people have to face hardships.

Those traveling in free government buses with Aadhaar card in Punjab will have to face hardships today. In fact, government buses have been jammed again today. The raw employees of Panbus and PRTC have gone on strike and have announced the closure of bus depots in the entire Punjab. A big protest is being held by the union regarding the tender of the kilometer scheme. Meanwhile, people will have to face huge difficulties.

According to the union, the arrests of workers and leaders began yesterday evening, further escalating the tense situation. Arrests of Panbus and PRTC union leaders continued till this morning in the entire state including Amritsar.

Police arrested more than 20 union leaders, including state joint secretary Jodh Singh, state general secretary Shamsher Singh Dhillon, Baljit Singh Gill, Balwinder Singh Ratt, Gurpreet Singh (Muktsar), three prominent leaders of Barnala depot, three leaders of Faridkot depot and representatives of Sri Muktsar Sahib.

The union attributed this to the opening of tenders for privately owned buses under the kilometer scheme in Panbus today. The union had already announced strong opposition to the scheme and would hold a gate rally during the tender process and call for an immediate strike. The union alleged that the plan was a step towards gradual privatization of the transport department, which threatened the future of workers.
