Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Indian women’s cricket team after winning the first Blind T20 World Cup by defeating Nepal by seven wickets in Colombo on Thursday. The Indian women’s blind team’s win in the six-team tournament comes just days after the women’s senior team registered its first win in the ODI World Cup. The team members presented a signed bat to Prime Minister Modi, while he also signed a ball for the team.
Prime Minister Modi had already congratulated the victorious Indian team on its historic achievement. Prime Minister Modi wrote on X that congratulations to the Indian Blind Women Cricket Team for creating history by winning the first Blind Women’s T20 World Cup! What is even more commendable is that she remained undefeated in the entire series. He further said that this is truly a historic sporting achievement, a great example of hard work, teamwork and determination. Every player is a champion! India won the tournament by defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final played at P Sara Oval, Colombo on Sunday. India, bowling first, restricted Nepal to 114 runs for five wickets and then won the title by scoring 117 runs for three wickets in 12 overs.
