Union Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is on a visit to Punjab today. Chauhan reached Moga, where he sat on a bed with the people and ate mustard greens and corn bread. He interacted with farmers and MGNREGA workers. Chauhan honored the farmers in Moga’s Ransinh Kalan village for not burning stubble. He also discussed the implementation of the schemes on the ground with the officials of both the departments. Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar and other party leaders were also present along with the Union Minister.
Ransinh Kalan, a village in Moga district, known as Punjab’s model village, has once again emerged as an example of development. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached Moga during his visit to Ransinh Kalan on Thursday and appreciated the development work done there. They became murids of the village.
The minister ate mustard greens and corn bread in the village. During the visit, he inspected the village library, park, old residential area, roads and other development projects. He also visited the fields and interacted with the farmers. While spreading the message of environmental protection, the minister also planted a sapling in the village.
Shivraj Singh said that the work going on in Ransinh Kalan is truly inspiring. The work done by the Sarpanch of the village has not been seen anywhere before. Such development work could not be seen sitting in an office, that’s why I came here. While discussing the major activities of the village, the minister said that no farmer has burnt the stubble for the last 6 years. Instead, using machinery, the stubble is mixed into the soil before the next crop is planted. Farmers who refrain from stubble burning are also given incentives and rewards. The village has also performed very well in anti-drug activities.

Minister Chouhan specially praised the cleanliness of the village saying that there are no drains but still the entire village is clean. There are no cases of diseases like malaria, diarrhea or dengue in the village, which shows the excellent management of the village. In recognition of the development work done in Ransinh Kalan, the Sarpanch will be invited to Delhi and felicitated. He also assured farmers that fair MSP will be provided for all crops. In the end, the minister said that Punjab is a farmer-dominated state and he was very happy to visit it. Ransinh Kalan is truly a model village for the entire country. This village is a school, others should learn from it.
