Captain Shubman Gill, who did not play the second Test due to a neck injury, showed solidarity and determination after the 0-2 series loss to South Africa, saying that the team will become stronger despite this defeat.
The two-Test series was an embarrassing one for India. South Africa made a clean sweep by defeating the hosts by 30 runs in the first Test in Kolkata and by 408 runs in the second Test in Guwahati. This was South Africa’s first win on Indian soil in 25 years. This defeat led to criticism of the team’s performance and leadership and fans even ‘hooted’ coach Gautam Gambhir.
Gill wrote on ‘X’ on Wednesday, “The calm sea does not teach you to navigate, but the storm only makes you stronger.” We will continue to rely on each other, fight for each other and move forward, and become stronger.
