Gwalior/Bhopal. Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia is continuously and intensively monitoring the various development projects going on in Gwalior city. His regular dashboard review efforts have resulted in significant acceleration in the progress of all major projects. The works which were delayed for a long time – like the Ambedkar Memorial, which was pending for about 1.5 years; ISBT transfer issue, which was pending for 4 months; Works related to station reconstruction, elevated roads and damaged roads, all these have gained momentum due to Scindia’s activism. He is regularly holding meetings with the concerned departments, public representatives and senior officials to review the progress of the projects and provide necessary guidelines. Elevated Road Phase 1 and Phase 2 work is going on rapidly: Scindia
Review of Elevated Road Phase-I and Phase-II found that till November 17, construction of 204 pile caps of Phase-I and 532 working piles of Phase-II had been completed. Considerable progress has also been achieved in land acquisition, where Rs 57.41 crore out of Rs 59.53 crore has been distributed and the process of removing the remaining encroachments is underway. Scindia gave clear instructions that this important project should not be delayed under any circumstances and the emerging challenges should be resolved immediately.
Rs 70.36 crore distributed for land acquisition of Agra-Gwalior Expressway
So far, Rs 70.36 crore has been disbursed in the land acquisition process of the Agra-Gwalior Expressway project costing ₹ 4613 crore. The work is being disrupted due to the demand for more compensation by Congress MLA from Dholpur Shobharani Kushwaha regarding this matter. NHAI is trying to resolve this issue by holding a meeting with Dholpur MLA soon. A meeting is also being organized by NHAI soon to remove the obstacles arising at the local level. It may be noted that the Union Minister himself is in constant touch with the Uttar Pradesh Government and Agra District Administration, so that this work can be completed soon.
Ambedkar Dham work is progressing satisfactorily
The progress of Ambedkar Dham, which is being built at a cost of Rs 11.30 crore in Jorasi, Dabra, is also satisfactory. The first phase of the project has been completed, the fund for which was sanctioned by the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. After this, an amount of about Rs 8 crore for the second phase was pending, but due to the active initiative and continuous efforts of Scindia, this approval could be obtained smoothly. After the funds were approved by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, now the work of the second phase is progressing rapidly. After reaching Ambedkar Dham, the Union Minister himself had decided that the statue of Baba Saheb will be installed outside the memorial courtyard so that every visitor can bow to him first. It was decided to increase the height of the statue from 12 feet to 20 feet. A museum will be built in the memorial, whose rooms will be in the names of Panchtirtha sites and a management committee will be formed for its maintenance. The project was targeted to be completed before December 2026.
multilevel car parking task
The multilevel car parking project, costing ₹82 crore, is also progressing rapidly. As of November 20, 95 percent work from Basement-2 to Basement-1, 70 percent work from Basement-1 to Ground Floor, and 30 percent work on Ground Floor has been completed. The project is likely to be completed by March 2026. With its construction, there will be a significant reduction in the traffic pressure in Maharaj Bada area and better parking facilities will be available to the citizens. Minister Scindia has directed that the selection of the agency for the operation of MLCP should be finalized soon and detailed action plan and proposals for smooth operation should be immediately invited from the selected agency.
Industrial Museum work completed
Considerable progress has also been made in the renovation of the Government Press Building and the Industrial Museum project. 95 percent work of this project worth about ₹16 crore has been completed by October 30 and software testing is going on. Its work will be completed and transferred by December.
Work on 34 roads completed, funds allocated for 89 roads, their work is in progress.
The Union Minister did a technical assessment of 359 roads of the city and classified them into Green, Yellow and Red categories. The review found 125 roads in the Green category, 63 roads in the Yellow category and 171 roads in the Red category. As a result of continuous monitoring and instructions of Union Minister Scindia, work on a total of 34 roads including 25 Municipal Corporation and 9 PWD roads has been completed by 11 November 2025. Apart from this, work orders for 29 roads of the Municipal Corporation have been issued and 48 roads are in the tender process. 12 roads of PWD are in a position to start work soon. Scindia has directed the officials that repair and construction work should continue throughout the year as per requirement and immediate solutions should be provided in crowded areas.
Gwalior railway station work will be completed soon
The work of modernization of Gwalior Railway Station costing ₹ 534.70 crore is progressing at a fast pace. Parking construction work is going on in the eastern part of the station complex, while the civil work of the arrival and departure building on the western side has been completed and the architectural work is going on at a fast pace. Minister Scindia has given clear instructions to the officials to ensure strict adherence to both timeliness and quality in the project, so that the work can be completed within the stipulated period. Minister Scindia is continuously monitoring every micro work related to the station through the dashboard, so that there is no delay at any stage and all the work can proceed in an organized manner.
Rs 15 crore distributed for Gwalior Western Bypass
Till November 20, Rs 15 crore has been disbursed for land acquisition in the Gwalior Western Bypass project, which costs ₹ 1347.6 crore. With its completion, traffic pressure in the city will be reduced.
Hospital under bridge work has started
Apart from this, the work of underbridge being constructed between 1000 bed Super Specialty Hospital and JAH at a cost of Rs 20 crore has started from October 28. This very important project was pending for about one and a half years due to administrative negligence, but after the intervention of Minister Scindia, instructions were given to start the work immediately, as a result of which the construction work is now progressing smoothly. The pert chart of this project has been presented on November 12 and the target has been set to complete it by May 2027.
Long distance buses will operate from ISBT
The newly constructed ISBT has been inaugurated in Gwalior city. The Union Minister, along with the local administration, has decided that long distance buses will be operated from the new ISBT so that the traffic pressure in the city is reduced. Apart from this, short distance buses are to be operated from the old bus stand only so that regular and daily commuters can get convenience.
Water supply tender approved by SLTC
In the meetings related to water supply, he observed the progress of the tender prepared for strengthening the water supply system for Wards 61–66, which has already been approved by the State Level Technical Committee before 19 November. Its work will start soon after the approval of the Mayor. Presently the per capita water demand is 135 liters per day, while the supply is about 80 MLD being provided through hand pumps and tube wells. Describing the Rs 1875 crore Chambal Water Supply Scheme as extremely important for the future of Gwalior, he gave instructions for timely progress.
Union Minister Scindia said that his aim is to take the benefits of development schemes directly to the common people and not limit them to papers only. With this objective in mind, regular and continuous monitoring of every development work is being done. Describing public participation, transparency and timeliness as the basic cornerstone of the work, he said that it is the responsibility of all of us to live up to the expectations of the people of Gwalior. He said that with the coordinated efforts of the Central and State Governments, Gwalior will emerge in a more modern, strong and organized form in the coming times.
