Israel identifies body sent from Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that his country has identified a body recently brought from Gaza as the remains of hostage Dror Orr. Now the bodies of two hostages remain in Gaza. The first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement is nearing completion.

Palestinian terrorists sent Dror Or’s body on Tuesday. Israel has agreed to exchange the bodies of 15 Palestinians for each hostage or body found. The Israeli military said Dror Or was killed when Islamic Jihad extremists attacked his home in Kibbutz Biri on October 7, 2023.

His wife, Yonat Orr, was also killed in the attack. That day, Palestinian militants killed about 1,200 people in southern Israel and abducted 251 people to Gaza. Dror Orr’s two children, Alma and Noam, were abducted by extremists on October 7 and were released under a deal in November 2023.

Nearly all hostages or their remains have been returned under ceasefire or other agreements. The bodies of two people, an Israeli and a Thai national, are still in Gaza.
