In Chandigarh on Wednesday, protests are going on at various places. PU Bachaomorcha has announced a bandh in Punjab University, on the other hand, Mahapanchayat of farmers is going on in Sector-43B. On the other hand, the atmosphere turned tense during the dharna demonstration by the leaders of the Punjab Youth Congress in Mohali, which is adjacent to Chandigarh. Workers and leaders of All India Youth Congress have also participated in this demonstration. A large number of youth workers are trying to move towards Chandigarh. However, the protestors were stopped by Chandigarh Police near Phase-2 of Mohali and Chandigarh Dahad Mohali.
Police set up heavy barricades near the furniture market to prevent them from crossing the border. Despite this, the leaders tried to force their way over the barricades and enter Chandigarh, leading to a minor skirmish. As the situation worsened, the police detained several leaders and put them in buses. Police said that the Youth Congress will not be allowed to enter Chandigarh under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, Youth Congress leaders alleged that the central government was constantly “interfering” with Punjab’s rights, be it through agricultural laws, delays in flood relief, disputes over Punjab’s share in the PU, or bills related to Chandigarh. Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu was also present at the protest.
The situation turned tense when the protesters tried to break through the police barricades. There were clashes between police and protesters at many places. Some protesters even stood in front of the barricades with tractors, which worsened the situation. Seeing the rising tension, the police detained several Youth Congress leaders. They were put in buses and removed from the spot.

Let it be known that the protesting students had called for the complete closure of the Punjab University on November 26, while demanding the announcement of Senate elections in the Punjab University, Chandigarh. In support of this, the Punjab Youth Congress staged a protest in Mohali against the BJP-led central government. Leaders of the Punjab Youth Congress in Mohali are marching towards the Governor House in Chandigarh.
