Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has increased the price of sugarcane by 15 rupees while giving a big relief to the sugarcane farmers of Punjab. Now farmers will get Rs 416 per quintal for sugarcane. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced this in Gurdaspur. He said that this price is the highest in the entire country. He further said that the main competition is with Haryana and the price is higher than Haryana.
It should be said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had arrived in Dinanagar to inaugurate the new sugar mill project and co-generation plant. He said that the capacity of Gurdaspur Cooperative Sugar Mill has been increased from 2 thousand tons to 5 thousand tons. The Chief Minister said that 2850 sugarcane farmers are supplying sugarcane to this mill, but with the commencement of this project, the number of farmers supplying sugarcane will increase to 7025.
The Chief Minister said that with this, farmers will not need to go to distant mills, which will save their transportation and time. He said that we are also increasing the quality of the sugarcane crop and this mill will also reduce the hardships of farmers going far and wide.
