The Punjab government organized a grand function at Anandpur Sahib to celebrate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, but the politics has erupted due to the non-appearance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President Aman Arora described the absence of the Prime Minister and other Union Ministers as unfortunate.
He said that we had invited all the central ministers including the Prime Minister, the President. PM Modi came to Kurukshetra but Sri Anandpur Sahib did not come to pay obeisance. He said that the Prime Minister should answer why he did not attend the Martyrs’ Day celebrations.
Arora said that the Prime Minister did not go to the martyrdom site of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to pay homage. This is disregard for the sentiments of the Sikh community and Punjab. If it was not for Guru Sahib’s martyrdom, Hindustan would not be what it is today, so this day is not just a program, but a moment associated with the soul of the country. The Minister said that Kurukshetra is only a few minutes’ flight from Anandpur Sahib, yet the Prime Minister did not attend the martyrdom ceremony.
Speaking about the farmers’ issues, Arora said that the Punjab government stands with the farmers, but most of their demands are related to the central government. So when the Union Agriculture Minister visits Chandigarh, he should talk to the farmers at the ground level, the interaction should not be limited to mere formalities and photo-taking.
