In Jalandhar, the demand for action against the police and death penalty against the accused in the murder of a minor girl is gaining momentum. Various organizations are protesting and taking out candle marches. Tiger Force President Jassi Tallan has announced a protest against the Jalandhar Police Commissioner by gathering all religious and social organizations.
Today, Chairman of Women’s Commission Raj Lali Gill and Chairman of Children’s Commission Kavardeep Singh reached the house of the victims and interacted with the family. Raj Lali Gill said that we have no words to describe this, the concerned mother is crying with her head against the walls. The guilty person will not be spared in the case. We have collected all the facts in the case.
He raised the question that why the police did not recover the dead body of the girl from the house where it was found. He said that the forensic team has collected the evidence and the police has received the post-mortem report. The family wants the case to be tried in a fast-track court, which the commission supported. He also said that the past record of accused Harvinder Singh is questionable and it will be investigated separately. The Commission will also seek an explanation from the Commissioner of Police regarding the suspension of ASI Mangat Ram and further action.
In the afternoon, BJP working state president Ashwini Sharma reached Jalandhar. They termed it as murder of humanity and accused the police officials of gross negligence. He said that action should have been taken against the officials by now.
People took out a candle march in Basti area of Jalandhar, in which the girls of Jalandhar demanded action against the authorities. He said that when the girls are not safe in Jalandhar, where will the police be? They have to wake up. They demanded speedy justice. Political leaders also questioned the police action.
They include Jayinder Kaur, Aarti Rajput, former Chief Minister Channi, former MP Sushil Rinku, former MLA Sheetal Angural, Khullar and family members, who have demanded speedy punishment of the accused and action against the police.
