Venkatesh Prasad becoming KSCA President almost certain

Former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad is almost certain to be elected unopposed as the President of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in the elections to be held on December 7. Election Officer Dr. B. Basavaraju, IAS (Retd.) approved Prasad’s candidature during the scrutiny of nomination papers.

The nomination of another presidential candidate, KN Shantha Kumar, was rejected on technical grounds, while Kalpana Venkatachar withdrew her name from the race for the top post, clearing the way for Prasad to become the president.

A statement issued by the union said, “With this development Venkatesh Prasad B.K. Now ready to be elected unopposed for the post of Speaker.” The nomination papers were scrutinized under the supervision of retired High Court judge Justice Subhash B etc.

The nominations of other former cricketers like Sujit Somasundar (Vice President, Secretary) and Avinash Vaidya (Joint Secretary and Managing Committee Member) have also been approved. Prasad had earlier been the vice-president of the association during the tenure of Anil Kumble as president. At that time Javagal Srinath was on the post of Secretary. Somasundar was till recently the head of education at the BCCI Center of Excellence. He resigned from this post to contest the state union elections.
