Ayushman card holders are provided with free treatment up to ₹5 lakh annually by the government. This limit applies to the entire family, meaning all family members can avail treatment up to ₹5 lakh. This includes operations, treatment of major diseases and surgeries.
How can one get free treatment after Ayushman card limit expires?
If one has a serious medical condition and the limit of ₹5 lakh has been exhausted, there is no need to panic. The Ayushman Card limit resets at the beginning of every financial year. This means you get a new limit of ₹5 lakh as soon as the new financial year starts. After this, you can resume free treatment using the same card. However, if you are undergoing treatment after the expiry of the limit and the new financial year has not yet started, you will have to wait a little longer.
How can special permission for treatment be obtained after Ayushman card expires?
In some cases, if the patient’s condition is very serious, treatment can be continued with special permission from the District Health Department or the Ayushman Help Desk. To do this, you will need to contact your nearest government or listed private hospital. The Ayushman help desk or the administrative department there will explain the process.
