Within 32 hours of a 5.7 magnitude earthquake hitting Bangladesh on Friday, three more tremors were felt on Saturday, causing panic. Experts have warned of a major earthquake and termed these four earthquakes as pre-shocks. Bangladesh was hit by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake on Friday morning, killing at least 10 people and causing extensive damage to buildings in central parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, while tremors were felt across the country around the same time on Saturday morning.
Two tremors were felt one after the other in the capital of Bangladesh and surrounding administrative districts on Saturday evening. Narsingdi was the epicenter of the earthquake, where a 5.7 magnitude earthquake occurred on Friday. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said one of the three aftershocks had its epicenter below the surface in the capital’s crowded Badda area, while the rest was in Narsingdi. Meteorological Department spokesperson and meteorologist Tariful Nawaz Kabir said that two earthquakes occurred simultaneously at around 6 pm on Saturday, the epicenter of one of which was in Badda area of Dhaka and the other in Narsingdi. At least 10 people were killed and several hundred injured in the first earthquake in Bangladesh.
