The condition of well-known actor Dharmendra, who has been admitted to the hospital for several days, is critical. He is on ventilator at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai. He was admitted to the hospital due to difficulty in breathing. Dharmendra, known as the He-Man of Bollywood, has left behind a remarkable cinematic legacy spanning more than six decades. His last film is ‘Ikkis’, which will be released on December 25.
He is survived by his wife Hema Malini and six children – actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, as well as Ajita and Vijeta.

Dharmendra, considered one of the greatest actors of Indian cinema, started his career with the 1960 film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour, by the Government of India in 2012. In her six-decade career, she worked in award-winning films like ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, ‘Naukar Biwi Ka’, ‘Phool Aur Patthar’, ‘Betaab’ and ‘Ghayal’.

Born Dharmendra Kewal Krishna Deol in a village in Ludhiana, Punjab, he married Prakash Kaur in 1954 at the age of 19, before entering the film world. Later, he fell in love with actress Hema Malini, whom he married.
Even at the age of 89, Dharmendra remains active on social media and often shares videos promoting healthy lifestyle and organic lifestyle. Many of his Instagram posts show him driving a tractor, tending his farm, and giving his fans simple life lessons and farming tips.
Dharmendra’s upcoming projects
Dharmendra will be seen in the much-awaited war drama ‘Ikkis’ directed by Sriram Raghavan. Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda is all set to make his big debut as Arun Khetrapal. The plot depicts the untold true story of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee, 2nd Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal.
Reportedly, the film is scheduled to release in theaters on December 25, 2025. Dharmendra will be seen playing the role of Nayak’s grandfather. Dharmendra was also seen in the 2023 film, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ alongside Ranveer Singh, Shabana Azmi and Alia Bhatt. The veteran actor received massive appreciation for his role in the film. Meanwhile, in 2024, she was seen in ‘Teri Baton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.
