In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Dainik Bhaskar, along with Google News Initiative, has successfully started the Journalist Training Program and User Awareness Training Program. Initiatives took initiative to increase the information system and increase the habit of reading the news in local language. More than 200 journalists of UP have been trained. More than one lakh local news has been checked with verification. Along with this, more than 5 lakh users have been told how important it is to identify the source of reliable news and high quality journalism.

This initiative of Dainik Bhaskar provides a means to differentiate the truth and lies to both journalists and the general public, making knowledgeable, intelligent and active society.

Training of journalists and empowering media community

The first phase focused on professional journalists and stringers, with extensive training to increase journalism methods and digital literacy.

Mainly involved in training:

  • Identifying the contradiction in information- Verifying the source, checking facts and identifying wrong and misleading content and training to mark it.
  • Practice of high-level journalism- Organizing sessions on fairness, accuracy and research reporting to maintain the basic values ​​of journalism.
  • Awareness of users- Empowering the public, along with this, a strong awareness campaign educated more than 5 lakh users with the responsibility of digital news.

The main features of training-

  • Identifying misinformation: Understanding how misinformation spreads and why verification is important.
  • Develop critical thinking: Reliability of news and evaluation skills of sources
  • Identifying high quality journalism: Training users to identify fair, well -research and identify balanced reporting.

Journalists verified and audited more than 1 lakh news. More than 5 lakh users were made aware of misinformation, its risk, identity and solution. In order to promote reliable media literacy in Uttar Pradesh, a strong foundation was established for future initiatives.
