New Delhi: Disciplinary action has been taken against players of India and Pakistan during Asia Cup 2025. There was a tense atmosphere on the field many times in the matches played between the two countries, due to which the ICC had set up an investigation. Let us tell you that these matches were played on 14, 21 and 28 September.
In the first match, charges were framed against Suryakumar Yadav of India and Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan of Pakistan. A case was registered against these three players for violating ICC disciplinary rules. According to available information, Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30 percent of his match fee and was also given two demerit points. At the same time, Farhan got one demerit point along with an official warning. Haris Rauf also faced a 30 per cent fine and two demerit points.
A case was registered against Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh for making an indecent gesture in the match played on September 21. However, Arshdeep was acquitted in the hearing by mat referee Andy Pycroft. It is noteworthy that not enough evidence was found to prove the allegations leveled against him.
Meanwhile, controversy broke out again in the final match on 28 September. This time India’s Jasprit Bumrah accepted the violation of the code of conduct. He was given an official warning and one demerit point added. Since he had pleaded guilty, no formal trial was held. On the other hand, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf was once again found guilty of misconduct. This time too he was fined 30 percent and two demerit points. With this, his total demerit points increased to four in a period of 24 months, due to which he has been suspended from the two ODI matches against South Africa.
It is worth noting that according to ICC rules, for Level 1 violation, there is a provision of a maximum fine of 50 percent of the match fee on the player and up to two demerit points. If a player accumulates four or more demerit points in two years, he faces a suspension.
Let us tell you that this entire episode has once again raised questions on the spirit of the game and the conduct of the players, because the ICC has been continuously taking strict action on such matters. Despite all these incidents, both the teams continued to give their best performance in the tournament and there is a lot of enthusiasm among the spectators about these matches. It is expected that in future a more strict approach will be adopted in such matters so that the dignity of the game is maintained.
